Spiritual Musts: 5. Protection

The fifth step in your spiritual musts is protection.

Once I’ve grounded, connected, opened my energy, and set my intention, it’s time to protect my space.

Protection isn’t about fear, it’s about energetic responsibility. It’s about knowing where your energy ends and everything else begins.

The way I protect myself depends on the situation I’m stepping into. It’s not always a one-size-fits-all, and Spirit has taught me to trust in different layers of energetic protection depending on the work I’m doing or the environment I’m in.

✨ The Everyday Bubble

If I’m just popping down to the shops or heading somewhere that’s not too energetically intense, I keep it simple. Before I leave the house, I clear my energy by calling in white light to wash through me. Then I visualise a shimmering bubble of light surrounding my entire body, kind of like slipping on a quick invisible raincoat. This bubble acts as a soft energetic boundary. It keeps other people’s energy from sticking to me and reflects it back to them, lovingly and respectfully.

This bubble is created by my own energy, so it naturally fades after a few hours. Think of it as a light hood you throw over yourself to dash through a sprinkle of rain, it works perfectly for quick, low-level energetic protection.

🛡️ The Spirit Team Shield Wall

When I know I’ll be in deeper, heavier, or more complex energetic situations—like a paranormal investigation, an event with lots of people, readings or healings where I’ll be absorbing a lot, or even spending time with people who are a little off from my vibe—I step things up.

In these moments, I call on my Spirit Team. I ask them to surround me, facing outward, each one holding a mirrored shield. These shields reflect anything that tries to enter my field and send it back to its source. It's not just about blocking, it’s about discernment and deflection. I often say:

“Spirit Team, please surround me now. I ask you to hold strong, mirrored shields that reflect any energy not in alignment with love or my highest good. Let only that which serves the light and healing enter this space.”

This isn’t a quick-fix bubble, this is the heavy-duty protection. The energetic equivalent of a thick parker raincoat, umbrella, and gumboots. And the best part? I’m not doing all the work, they are. The shield wall holds as long as it’s needed, because it’s powered and maintained by my guides, not by me.

As an empath, I use this kind of protection often when I’m working with clients, especially during readings or coaching. It helps me keep my field clear and creates a strong energetic distinction between their energy that I’m interpreting and my own. It’s one of the most important ways I stay energetically clean, present, and grounded throughout my work.

Why it matters:
Energetic protection helps you maintain clarity, preserve your vitality, and avoid taking on energy that doesn’t belong to you. It’s not about building walls—it’s about honouring your space. Whether it’s a gentle bubble for the everyday or a mirrored shield wall for the big energetic jobs, protecting yourself allows you to stay strong, sovereign, and safe in all the spiritual work you do.
