Where do our loved ones go when they pass?
I get asked so often, “Where do our loved ones go when they pass?” And the answer still makes my heart skip a beat because it’s so simple and yet so profound: they’re right here.
Not “up there,” not “gone,” not on some distant star you’ll never reach.
Right here. Always.
Everything is right here, right now. Everything overlaps, but it's a different vibration that's mostly invisible to you. So, whilst they are on a different frequency, a different plane, they're right here. I'm not saying they hang around you all the time. They have their lives to live. They have things to do. They have places to go and people to see.
But if you can imagine a radio. You’re tuned to one station. They’ve tuned to another. Both stations are still playing at the same time, in the same room. You just can’t hear both at the same time. But, when you change that dial and land on just the right spot, you can hear both stations. As a medium that’s what I do, but that’s a story for another blog. I’m here to explain how you can “dial in” for your own connection.
Spirit are operating in a dimension that time and space are not as structured in, they don’t follow the rules of time and space the way we understand them. There isn’t a clock, a calendar, or a map that limits them. They move and flow freely, aware of everything happening in your life, even the small, seemingly ordinary moments that you might not think anyone notices. They'll know when you need them. They'll be there. They'll make that connection.
Sometimes you may experience it through synchronicity in your life.
That sudden thought of someone you love. You know, the memory that comes out of nowhere while you’re washing dishes or sitting in traffic, that’s them reaching out. Maybe it’s that song that comes on the radio just at the right moment, the one they loved to sing along to. Maybe it’s a little feather on your path, a moment of laughter at a memory you didn’t even realise you missed, or a fleeting smell of perfume or cologne you associate with them. That might be a message from them. All of these small moments, these synchronicities, are their way of saying, “I see you. I’m here. I love you.”
In our grief, we can misinterpret their presence. During your grieving period you may think of them, thinking it is just the memories you are recalling however, that might actually be them attempting to connect with you. Its not your memory perse but instead its their energy. However, you're interpreting their energy through the negative belief that you've lost them, and so you feel grief, instead of the connection.
We feel sadness or loss because our minds are conditioned to see absence, to measure presence by what we can touch or see. But really, it’s connection. Every wave of emotion, every quiet nudge, every fleeting memory is them stepping into your energy, softly reminding you that love doesn’t end, it doesn’t fade, it doesn’t disappear.
I’ve had people tell me they felt a hand on their shoulder just as a difficult thought passed through their mind, or that a loved one showed up in a dream exactly when they needed comfort the most. Some notice pennies or coins appearing in unusual places, or the sudden appearance of a butterfly at a window. These are real, everyday examples of spirit finding a way to communicate in a way that we can notice without needing a dramatic sign.
Spirit communicates in the simplest, most immediate ways that you can recognise. Things that are right in front of your face, things that catch your attention without needing words or gestures. And the more you relax your mind, the more you quiet your expectations, the more you start to feel them. Not just sense them, but really feel them. That gentle warmth that fills your heart, the comfort that settles into your chest, in that subtle knowing that something, someone, is watching over you.
Love, energy, spirit, it never leaves. It’s always moving, always connecting, always right here, just waiting for you to notice. And the more you allow yourself to pause and feel, the more you’ll start to see that magic everywhere. The small synchronicities, in unexpected moments of clarity, in the gentle feeling of being held even when no one is physically near. Maybe it’s the way a friend randomly texts you the exact encouragement you needed, or how a memory pops into your mind that shifts your entire mood. These are all ways spirit is communicating through the world you live in, using ordinary moments to make extraordinary connections.
So, if you’re grieving, or missing someone, or wondering if they’re still around ,remember this: they are. Right here. Right now. They might be shifting, moving in ways your eyes can’t see, but They are always present. And if you pause, relax, and open your heart even just for a moment, you’ll start to feel them. Not as a ghost or a shadow, but as love itself, alive and moving through your world, reminding you that nothing ever really ends. We are all energy, there is no beginning or ending, we just change forms.
They are with you. Right here. Always.
