Unplug From the Fear Engine and Find Your Adventure Again
So you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained and just a little bit off lately… there’s so much noise, fear and other people’s opinions coming at you that you can’t even hear yourself think!
When was the last time you truly unplugged, not just from your phone, but from the fear, noise and opinions constantly competing for your attention?
When we hear the word meditation, we often imagine sitting perfectly still with our eyes closed, trying to quiet every thought, but meditation can take many different forms. This is why I like to refer to is as sitting in Stillness, because it can be as simple as that.
It could be going for a walk without headphones. Sitting outside and listening to the birds. Walking around your local neighbourhood and noticing the trees, the breeze and the sounds around you. It doesn’t need to happen in a national park or at a spiritual retreat. It can simply be a few quiet moments outside your own home.
The message Spirit wanted me to share with you today is very clear:
Unplug from the frequency that does not serve you.
Life Has Become Far Too Busy
There is so much happening in the world right now. We are constantly surrounded by information, opinions, notifications and conversations. We hear it on the television, on the radio, through social media and from the people around us.
Sometimes, even an ordinary conversation at work, a family barbecue or a gathering with friends can pull us into a way of thinking that doesn’t align with how we want to live.
Before we realise it, we have been dragged back into fear, worry or that heavy, ho-hum feeling about life.
This can be particularly noticeable when you have been working on yourself, becoming more aware of your thoughts and trying to live in a happier, more conscious way. You begin to recognise when the energy surrounding you doesn’t feel right for you anymore.
That doesn’t mean you need to judge other people or avoid everything happening in the world. It simply means using your discernment.
Ask yourself:
Is this serving me in a positive way, or is it feeding me fear?
Step Away From the Fear Engine
The news, social media and the endless stream of online information can become like a fear engine. Constantly feeding us another problem, another crisis or another reason to worry.
We don’t always realise how much of that frequency we are absorbing.
At some point, we need to make a choice. Do we continue allowing fear to shape our everyday reality, or do we deliberately create space for peace, happiness and clarity?
You don’t have to disconnect from the world forever. You simply need to recognise when you’ve had enough and give yourself permission to unplug.
Turn off the laptop. Put down your phone. Step away from the television. Stop scrolling.
Sit somewhere quiet and allow yourself to simply be.
Let’s Keep It Simple
We often hear words such as awakening, higher vibration and spiritual awareness. While these words may feel familiar to people who have been following a spiritual path for some time, they can also be confusing for someone who is only beginning to explore a different way of living.
So let’s take away all the spiritual language and keep today’s message simple:
You need a break from the noise.
You need some time when nobody can message you, notify you, sell you something or tell you what you should be thinking.
You need moments when you can hear your own thoughts again.
That is something everyone can understand, regardless of whether they consider themselves spiritual.
Go Back to a Simpler Time
Maybe we need to go back to the way we did things before we carried the entire world around in our pockets.
Pack an overnight bag. Throw a swag, a pillow and a couple of blankets into the back of the car. Pack an esky, gather the family or a few friends and go for a drive.
And yes, if you have a station wagon, even better. Do they still make station wagons? I don’t know!
You don’t have to plan an elaborate holiday or spend a fortune. Go camping for the weekend. Find a peaceful picnic area. Sit beside the water or spend an afternoon on a jetty with a nice cold drink. Choose a point on the map and explore somewhere new.
Even if you only have a few hours, you can still create your own little escape.
If you enjoy taking photos, perhaps take an old-school digital camera instead of your phone. Leave the cloud behind for a while. If you can find an old Gregory’s street directory, take that with you and follow the open road.
We have a card game called Getting Lost, created by a New Zealand company, which gives you different directions and prompts to follow as you explore. It’s such a fun way to let go of the plan and see where the road takes you.
The important part isn’t exactly where you go. It’s giving yourself permission to step away from the fast-paced energy of everyday life.
Find Your Adventure Again
Somewhere among the responsibilities, devices, deadlines and routines of adulthood, many of us have lost our sense of adventure.
We plan everything. We track everything. We check the weather, read the reviews and look at photos of the destination before we even leave home. Sometimes there is very little room left for surprise.
What if you simply packed the car and went?
What if you found somewhere beautiful, sat quietly and allowed yourself to enjoy the moment without immediately documenting it or sharing it online?
That can be meditation.
That can be grounding.
That can be how you reconnect with yourself and stabilise your energy.
Spirits message is reminding you that you don’t need to make this complicated. You may simply need to disconnect from the noise, return to your physical surroundings and remember what it feels like to be fully present in your own life.
If this message has found you today, perhaps it’s because you need a little more of that.
So put down the phone. Pack the car. Go for a walk. Sit by the water. Listen to the birds. Find your adventure again.
And if you have a favourite place where you go to unplug, pop it in the comments. I’d love to hear about it—and I’m sure others would love to discover it too.
