Wednesday Wellness: Mindful Breathing

Today, we’re kicking things off with a Mindful Breathing Break—a quick, 3–5-minute breathing exercise designed to help you reset, reduce stress, and refocus.

Why mindful breathing? Just a few minutes of focused breathing can significantly improve mental and physical well-being. By calming the nervous system, mindful breathing helps to release tension and bring clarity to the mind.

Here’s a simple breathing pattern to try: the 4-4-6 breath. To begin, sit comfortably with your feet flat on the floor and your hands resting in your lap. Close your eyes or soften your gaze, then:

Inhale through your nose for a count of 4.
Hold that breath for 4 counts.
Exhale slowly and fully through your mouth for a count of 6.
Repeat this pattern for five cycles, and as you do, notice how each breath invites calm and lets go of tension. By the end, take a moment to tune in to how your body feels—grounded, relaxed, and centered.

This is a simple exercise you can use anytime you need a quick mental reset. Give it a try, and enjoy the boost in clarity it brings to your day.
