Bridging Worlds: Not Gone, Just Different
But often, when you're standing next to someone whose heart is broken, the right words just don’t seem to exist. We’ve all heard phrases like, “They lived a good life,” or “They’re in a better place now,” and while they come from a place of love, they can feel empty in the rawness of grief.
As a psychic medium and energy healer, I’ve had the honour of connecting countless souls with their loved ones on the other side. And let me tell you, there’s something incredibly beautiful about witnessing the shift that happens when a grieving person receives a message from Spirit. It’s like their heart exhales. The tears are still there, but they soften. There's peace in knowing their person is still around, just in a different way.
And here’s the thing, you don’t have to be a medium to bring comfort. Whether it’s you grieving, or someone close to you, there are ways to feel closer to those who’ve passed, and to help others through their heartache too.
Here are some suggestions I’ve found truly help:
1. Know that your loved one didn’t just disappear.
They’ve simply transitioned. Returned to the energy of pure love. They’re safe, pain-free, and surrounded by those who went before them. Picture them laughing with old friends, hugging a beloved pet, or dancing in the light. If you're helping children cope, ask them to draw what that reunion might look like – it’s healing in ways you wouldn’t expect.
2. Pay attention to signs.
Spirit communicates in all kinds of ways. Through feathers, butterflies, numbers, songs, smells, flickering lights, and those “random” thoughts that make you stop in your tracks. If it makes you think of them, trust that it’s them saying hi.
3. Remember – they want you to live.
The souls I connect with often tell me they don’t want their loved ones stuck in sorrow. They want you to smile again, to laugh, to love. And yes, sometimes they even give you a gentle nudge towards a new relationship or opportunity. They’re still cheering you on, just from the other side.
4. Create a sacred space.
Set up a little memory corner – a photo, a candle, maybe a keepsake or something that reminds you of them. This doesn’t just honour them, it becomes a place where you can feel them. Sit quietly there, breathe, and let the connection happen.
5. Come to a group reading or mediumship demonstration.
Whether it’s online or in person, witnessing messages from Spirit, even if they’re not for you directly, can be deeply comforting. Spirit often brings through shared messages for the whole group. The healing energy is powerful.
6. Slow down and notice.
So many times during a reading, Spirit says, “I’ve been sending them signs – they just haven’t noticed!” Life gets busy. But if you can create a little stillness, even just for a moment, you’ll be surprised by how often you feel their presence. They're closer than you think.
